We are the proud new owners of a beautiful home in the Mauna Lani area all thanks to Kirk and his team at Corcoran Pacific. As experienced homebuyers from the mainland with limited time, we had already completed our online research and identified the condo complex we were intent on purchasing (or so we thought) before asking Kirk to schedule showings for us. Kirk immediately obliged, and provided lots of insider tips on the unit, community, and surrounding resort area. We were ready to submit an after the tour before Kirk had us pause and specify why we were so fixed on our initial property. He advised us, “if you are absolutely sure this is the one I’m happy to help you buy it, but based on your criteria you may want to consider a few of the Mauna Lani listings within your budget that I show you while you’re still on the Big Island.” We had not considered the Mauna Lani area before. After we returned to our hotel wondering why this realtor wouldn’t just close the deal with what may have been the most trigger-happy buyers ever, we realized Kirk must truly have had our best interests in mind and made a last-minute request for him to arrange for a few additional house tours. Kirk worked magic to line up tours for us on a schedule that still left us plenty of vacation time. As we toured his recommendations we understood why Kirk pointed us in a different direction—the amenities within the area, less commercialized feel, more privacy, and better long-term potential made the Mauna Lani resort area the winner. The fact that all these listings had an even lower monthly HOA fee for better amenities was the cherry on top of the pina colada. We left Big Island confident that we made the right decision by touring, and ultimately choosing, one of Kirk’s suggested listings.
Kirk had already pulled market comparisons and sales history for us before we landed at home, and we were under contract within that same week. His team quickly pulled together a to-do list and timeline to keep us organized. During the escrow period Kirk gave us lots of pointers on parts of the process and considerations unique to Hawaii real estate. Since we were unable to make another trip out to the Big Island, Kirk personally attended our home inspection and final walk-through, looping us in via FaceTime and always being available for questions. Even though we knew what to expect from home buying, having a local professional advise and coordinate all parties involved in the process was crucial to getting to closing. Particularly in a market in which buyers have limited leverage, Kirk’s expertise was key in identifying points for negotiation. Our closing in March was a dream come true, and now we have a local friend on the Big Island.
